iShares MSCI South Korea tracks the Korean market — Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix alone make up a large share of the fund, with Hyundai, Naver and Kia among the other big weights. It is the same market as the KOSPI and is highly sensitive to the memory-chip (DRAM/NAND) cycle, which makes it an early read on global semiconductor demand.
This is a US-listed exchange-traded fund, not the country's index itself. It trades in dollars during the US session. It moves in the same direction as the local index, but currency moves and the session offset keep the percentages from matching exactly.
