Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC)
Macro & the Fed
The FOMC is the Fed committee that sets interest rate policy.
It has twelve voting members: the seven members of the Fed's Board of Governors, the president of the New York Fed, and four of the other eleven regional Fed presidents, who rotate. It holds eight scheduled meetings a year; the statement is released at 2:00 p.m. New York time, followed by a press conference with the Fed Chair. Minutes come out about three weeks after each meeting.
