Capital Expenditure (Capex)
Valuation & Fundamentals
Money a company spends on long-lived assets such as factories, equipment or data centers.
It appears in the investing section of the cash flow statement; rather than being expensed all at once on the income statement, it is spread over the years as depreciation. Heavy capex can be an investment in future growth, but it reduces free cash flow today.
