Hawk
Macro & the Fed
A hawk is a central banker, or a stance, that puts fighting inflation first and leans toward keeping rates high or raising them.
When a Fed official's speech or a policy statement comes across as more hawkish than expected, markets read it as rates staying higher for longer. Short-term Treasury yields and the dollar are usually the quickest to react to that reading.
