On inflation, June data showed headline CPI easing to 3.46% year-over-year (from 4.17%), with core CPI at 2.57% (from 2.82%) and core PCE at 3.29% year-over-year (from 3.42%). The Fed funds rate held steady at 3.63%. On employment, June nonfarm payrolls rose by just 57,000, a marked slowdown from May's 129,000, while the unemployment rate ticked down slightly to 4.2% (from 4.3%). The next CPI release is due August 12.
