Pre-Market Trading
Market Mechanics
Pre-market trading is trading in US stocks before the regular session opens.
At many brokers it runs from 4:00 a.m. to the 9:30 a.m. open, New York time, though hours vary by broker. Fewer participants mean lower liquidity and wider spreads, and many brokers accept only limit orders. Overnight news and earnings released before the open show up here first, but a pre-market price does not guarantee where the stock will open.
